Prevention of urinary tract infections has been given a boost in a recent
study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Cranberry juice can really help to reduce the incidence of urinary tract
infections in older women. In the study, older women who were at risk for
urinary tract infections were randomized into two groups, one which drank
10 oz. of cranberry juice and the other which drank a look-alike beverage
daily for over a six month period. The women who drank the cranberry juice
had noticeably fewer infections during the study than their counterparts
who had the look-alike drink. So now it isn't just apples that keep
the doctor away! Copyright © 1994, 1995 University of Texas - Houston Medical School, DPALM MEDIC All rights reserved. |
