 Therapeutic Phlebotomy
Your doctor has asked us to make an appointment for you to have a Therapeutic Phlebotomy procedure at the following laboratory:

Hermann Hospital Blood Bank
Basement, Jones Pavilion
Hermann Hospital
713/704-3640
What is a Therapeutic Phlebotomy?
To do a therapeutic phlebotomy, the laboratory technician removes one unit (pint) of your blood in order to treat a disease or medical condition that you have.
 Remember
  • Please be sure to bring the paperwork your doctor gave you (orders for the laboratory).
  • Be sure you have eaten within the last 4-6 hours.
  • Drink plenty of fluid beforehand (at least two 8 oz glasses)
  • If you currently are not registered at Hermann Hospital, stop at the Outpatient Laboratories at Hermann Professional Building or Houston Medical Center or the admissions desk at Hermann Hospital on the ground floor of the Jones bulding and they will register you.
Be prepared to tell us:

  1. your name
  2. your date of birth
  3. your social security number
  4. your doctor's name
  5. the name of the test your doctor wants you to have (your doctor will give you on a prescription or laboratory test request).
If you are having your test done at a laboratory in the Hermann Hospital complex, you may park in the Hermann Professional Building Garage.
