Your doctor has asked us to make an appointment for you to have a bleeding time test. You may
choose to have the test done at one of the following laboratories:
- Outpatient Laboratory, Hermann Professional Building, Suite 1521, 704-6200.
Monday-Thursday (8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.).
- Outpatient Laboratory, Houston Medical Center, Suite 630, 704-1724.
Monday-Thursday (8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.).
- Hermann Hospital Clinical Laboratory, Basement of Jones Pavilion, 797-2857.
Monday-Thursday (7:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M.).
To help us make sure that your test is accurate, we would like you to take the following steps:
- Avoid taking aspirin or aspirin-containing drugs for at least 3 days before the test(look for aspirin, salicylate, or salicylic acid on the label) If you have taken aspirin
within that time, please tell the technician. (Avoid taking any over the counter medication which contains an aspirin substitute such as ibuprofen or tylenol within two days of the procedure.
- Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, you may eat meals at your regular times.
- Please give your doctor a complete medical history of your family. The doctor needs to know if anyone in your family has a history of unusual bleeding or a diagnosed
bleeding disorder (ex.hemophilia).

Please be sure to bring the paperwork your doctor gave you (orders for the laboratory).
If you currently are NOT REGISTERED at Hermann Hospital, the Outpatient Laboratories
at Hermann Professional Building and Houston Medical Center will register you when you
arrive for your blood test. If you are
Be prepared to tell us:
- your name,
- your date of birth,
- your social security number,
- your doctor's name, and
- the name of the test your doctor wants you to have.
If you are having your test done at a laboratory in the Hermann Hospital complex, you
may park in the Hermann Professional Building Garage
