The Medical Education Information Center of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The University of Texas-Houston Medical School is a State and National leader in medical informatic support of quality medical practice and education. Our mission is continually improve and conduct a vigorous and innovative instructional program; to provide current and accurate information to support the clinical practice of medicine and in particular, pathology; to provide an instructional informatic model for the education of current and future physicians, scientists, health professionals, and patients; and to provide excellent medical education and informatic services to our physicians and the community.
Values How we accomplish our mission is as important as the mission itself. Fundamental to the success of MEDIC are these basic values.
People. Our people are the source of our strength. They provide the skill, intelligence and altruism which determine our reputation and vitality. Involvement and teamwork are our core human values.
Services. Our services are the end result of our efforts and they should be the finest in serving our health care providers and their patients. Our services are the basis on which each of us and MEDIC is viewed.

Quality comes first. To achieve student, patient and health professional satisfaction, the quality of our services and instructional programs must be our number one priority.
Patients are the focus of everything we do. Our work must be done with our patients and health care providers in mind, supporting their activites in providing high quality health care.
Continuous improvement is essential to our success. We must strive for excellence in everything we do: in our instructional programs, in patient relations and services, in relations with members of the group practice and the community.
Employee involvement is our way of life. We are a team. We must treat each other with trust and respect.
Vendors and suppliers are our partners. The center must maintain mutually beneficial relationships with vendors, suppliers and our other business associates.
Integrity is never compromised. The conduct of our center must be pursued in a manner that is socially responsible and commands respect for its integrity and for its positive contributions to improving the health of the people of the State of Texas and the Nation. Our services are open to men and women alike without discrimination and without regard to ethnic origin or personal beliefs.
