INTERPRETATION:

In von Willebrand's disease (vWD), there is abnormal multimeric structure. The spectrum of vWD may involve qualitative and /or quantitative abnormalities of plasma and /or platelet von Willebrand Factor (vWF).

Multimer analysis has formed the basis of subtype classification of vWD. As such, von Willebrand Multimer Analysis is only needed after a diagnosis of von Willebrand's disease has been established using the more common tests such as: vWF:RCo, vWF:Ag, F VIII:C, PTT, bleeding time.
