195A Lung, asthma LP Hyperplasia of mucous glands
195B Lung, asthma MP Hyperplastic glands; hypertrophy of smooth muscle
195C Lung, asthma Thickened basementn membrane, smooth muscle, inflammatory cells
195D Lung, asthma Thickened basement membrane; inflammatory cells
195E Lung, asthma Goblet cell metaplasia in bronchial epithelium
195G Lung, asthma Thickened basement membrane; lymphocytes, eosinophils, plasma cells
65A Kidney, acute and chronic rejection LP hemorrhage, loss of tubules
65B Kidney, acute and chronic rejection Endothelial proliferation (acute vascular rejection)
65C Kidney, acute and chronic rejection Interstitial fibrosis; scattered cellular infiltrate
65D Kidney, acute and chronic rejection Fibrinoid necrosis of small vessel and capillary loops in glomerulus
65E Kidney, acute and chronic rejection Hemorrhage. Thickened, fibrotic wall of vessel (chronic rejection)
65F Kidney, acute and chronic rejection Endovasculitis (acute vascular rejection)
99A Kidney, systemic lupus erythematosus MP Two hypercellular glomeruli. Large glomerulus in center shows increased lobulation of the glomerular capillary tuft and closure of peripheral capillary loops. Tubules separated by inflammatory cells in interstitium.
99C Kidney, systemic lupus erythematosus MP Two glomeruli present. The glomerulus in the upper hypercellular. There is patchy interstitial inflammation.
99E Kidney, systemic lupus erythematosus HP Glomerulus. Peripheral capillary loops at 5:00 in the capillary tuft show fibrin thrombi in lumens. At 7:00 in the capillary tuft there are nuclear fragments indicating focal necrosis in the tuft.
99D Kidney, systemic lupus erythematosus HP Hypercellular glomerulus. Wire-loop lesion (subendothelial deposition of antigen-antibody complexes causing thickening and eosinophilia of capillary walls) particularly prominent at 2-3:00. At 5:00 there is a thrombus in a capillary loop.
99H Kidney, systemic lupus erythematosus HP Hypercellular glomerulus at left. Just to the right of center at the bottom is an arteriole containing a fibrin thrombus. Inflammatory cells in interstitium.
99I Kidney, systemic lupus erythematosus MP 2 hypercellular glomeruli. upper glomerulus shows wire-loops. Lower glomerulus shows fibrinoid necrosis of glomerular arteriole.
34A Joint, rheumatoid synovitis Papillary villous thickening of proliferative synovium (pannus). Normally the synovium is a thin, single layer of cells.
34B Joint, rheumatoid synovitis Area with more mononuclear cell infiltrate of lymphocytes and plasma cells.
180A Thyroid, Hashimotos's Disease Broad bands of fibrous connective tissue divide residual thyroid follicles.
180B Thyroid, Hashimoto's Disease Lymphoid follicles, as well as diffuse infiltrate of lymphoid cells, are present.
180C Thyroid, Hashimoto's Disease HP Lympoid follicle with a germinal center.
180D Thyroid, Hashimoto's Disease Scattered lymphocytes and thyroid follicles.
180E Thyroid, Hashimoto's Disease Infiltrate of lymphocytes and plasma cells with some lymphocyte infiltrating into thyroid follicles.
180F Thyroid, Hashimoto's Disease HP Infiltrating lymphocytes and plasma cells.
184A Skin, Arthus reaction LP Full thickness of skin with numerous hair follicles and vessels with dense inflammatory infiltrate.
184B Skin, Arthus reaction Vessel with inflammatory cells lumen and through wall (vasculitis)
184C Skin, Arthus reaction Neutrophils and nuclear debris (dust) throughout wall of vessel.
184D Skin, Arthus reaction HP 184C, vasculitis
